The Mines Theatre is dedicated to providing an environment which offers a variety of avenues
for artistic expression and appreciation for all ages.

The Mines Theatre works with local individuals to
provide unique experiences in the performing arts and special events for our community.

The Mines Theatre strives to give back to the community in which we serve.

The theatre was originally formed on September 4, 2014, when members of the community came together under the guidance of the SC3, a local non-profit 501c3 organization in Sulphur, LA, to enact their vision as a community theatre.

The theatre transitioned into a stand-alone 501c3 non-profit in January 2017 named The Mines Theatre, encompassing additional areas within SWLA and SETX and expanding its offerings.  The Mines is managed by an  Executive Director and overseen by a Board of Directors.   The Leadership, Actors and Crew Members work in a volunteer capacity

The Mines offers various means for entertainment through the performing arts:  stage plays; children's theatre,
youth performances; dinner theatre; musical venues; dance productions; and special events.

The Mines is located in the historic Fox Theatre building located at 121 E Napleon St in Sulphur, LA.  Built following WWII, in a naval Quonset hut, the movie theatre operated until the mid-1960’s.  In 1990, the building became home to the Kossa Dancers, and was renovated to become one of the only community performing arts theatres in our area to feature a thrust stage.  The 40’ stage is made of pecan from the building’s original balcony.  The original foyer was also maintained, complete with terrazzo flooring that extends to the street.

Giving back to the community is very important to the theatre.  Multiple $500 Senior High Scholarships have been awarded to Sr High students pursuing  continuing education in the performing arts since the 2014/15 school year.  Scholarships are open to students at Sulphur High School, Vinton High School, Westlake High School and DeQuincy High School.

The 2017 and 2018 agendas also included several shows with proceeds supporting local non-profit organizations.  The Mines was pleased to award $1,000 to each of the following:  Vinton High School Band, Colors For A Cause and The Missing Piece. The Mines also began an annual donation of $500 to the SC3.

5th Year Anniversary
The Mines is excited to embark on its 5th year and is pleased to present the 219 Season!!!  To celebrate, special events are plannned, including a fundraiser in October.  Please consider participating in our 5 Year Donation request for $5, which will be utilized for facility upgrades and equipment.

It is through the generosity of our members and sponsors in the community that we are able to provide quality entertainment in the performing arts and give back to the community in which we serve.
